Just last week, I got a notice from my favorite magazine, Cottage Living. As of the Nov/Dec 2008, the magazine will no longer be published. I am so sad. I have subscribed from the very first issue (still my favorite issue ever), and I will miss finding this magazine in my mailbox. I love the decorating ideas...the "Cottage Industry" article...the recipes (of course!)...and finding out about neat places to visit in different cities.
The good news is that because I got a great renewal offer about a year or so ago, I still had 18 months of my subscription left...so now I need to figure out whether to transfer that to my Southern Living account (which is about to end)...or try out Cooking Light again. Or maybe Coastal Living? Hmmm.
I did notice that the editor of Cottage Living moved to be the editor of Southern Living. But no formal word about why the magazine was coming to an end. Some of my high school friends have worked for the magazine in the past few years...so maybe we can get some "inside info"! (pssst...hey Loren, Emily...any details???)

I got my notice last week too! I was super disappointed. Unfortunately, I don't get to pick a new magazine, I just get to receive Sunset "the magazine for living in the west". There goes my monthly escape from navajo textiles and adobe homes! :(

i'm bummed too - that mag was always the best for inspiration. and just totally my style! i'd vote for Southern Living - the recipes are amazing!!
I was sad when I heard the news too. I would definitely go with Southern Living...I opt for that instead of Sunset although I live in the west too...I just can't get into that western lifestyle...SL has great recipes and great decorating ideas...Cooking Light just has great recipes. And if the editor from CL is now at SL, maybe you'll see some CL ideas in SL!
I'm sorry to hear that, maybe it was due to money pressures in this economy. I have no idea really, hope you figure it out. I enjoyed Cooking light for a while.
that is a real bummer..i recall when Victoria was canceled (it's back now so maybe CL will be eventually!!!)...I was super disappointed. MY SIL gets that magazine...she LOVES it! I hope you can still get some kind of magazine fix!
Yep, got the notice too. How can they be going out of business when we all read it? :)
